US Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand and two pairs of Long Island parents devastated by the loss of their babies because of defective drop-side cribs called yesterday for a bill to outlaw the items’ manufacture and use.

Since 2000, at least 32 infants and toddlers have suffocated or were strangled in a drop-side crib, and an additional 14 infant fatalities are suspected involving the baby beds.
