CAMDEN, NJ — Restaurants and stores in Camden may continue to stay open past midnight — for now.

A temporary restraining order yesterday halted enforcement of a residential-area business curfew of 11 p.m. on weeknights and midnight on weekends.

The year-old curfew was meant to cut down on crime but hadn’t been enforced. Businesses may still stay open until 4 a.m., the court ruled.

Restaurateurs and shop owners argue that the curfew would be costly since much of their revenue comes in late at night.

A court-ordered trial is to determine the curfew’s constitutionality.
