A man who had just stolen a beer from a Bronx convenience store was killed when a car struck him as he was attempting to flee across the Bruckner Expressway, police said.

The man was sprinting across the busy highway near the intersection of East 149th Street when a 2016 BMW X5 slammed into him around 12:40 a.m. Monday.

Paramedics found the 22-year-old man lying in the road and rushed him to Lincoln Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The damaged SUV remained at the scene. The driver was not charged with a crime.
