New Yorkers planning to rent a car over the Fourth of July holiday should be prepared to open their wallets.
Car-rental prices are up from the year before, according to AAA travel experts — from $43 a day on average last year to $134.
Some top driving destinations for New Yorkers include Williamsburg, Va, Washington, DC, and Myrtle Beach, SC.
About 40.8 million Americans are expected to travel.
