This car thief hit a home run.
A man who swiped a set of wheels in Manhattan also made off with a piece of Bronx Bombers lore: a 1977 Yankees World Series ring, authorities said.
The 49-year-old victim discovered his GMC Yukon missing from in front of 133 W. 27th St. in Chelsea about 2 a.m. Wednesday.
The car was found two days later in Canarsie, Brooklyn, but the ring — along with a bronze cremation urn — was gone.
The ring belonged to a Yankees staffer, not a player, police said. The ashes apparently belonged to the victim’s mother, officials added.
Images released by cops show the ring, with a 19-diamond, interlocking “NY” logo. The words “Yankees World Champions” circle the perimeter.
One side bears the year and a representation of the World Series Trophy set in Yankee Stadium, along with two banners inscribed with the words “Pride” and “Tradition.”
A surveillance image shows the car thief exiting the vehicle before taking off.NYPDThe left side includes the Yankees Top Hat logo and “21st Championship.”
A 1977 World Series ring was sold at auction two years ago for $24,244.
Police also released a photograph of the missing bronze cube cremation urn.
The Yankees beat the LA Dodgers, 4-2, to win the franchise’s 21st title — their first since 1962 – and the first under the ownership of George Steinbrenner. The game was highlighted by Reggie Jackson’s dramatic three-run home run in Game 6.
A surveillance video shows the thief leaving the car on foot. He was described as an adult male black, last seen wearing a black jacket, multi-colored hat and gray pants.
Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
