The girl who classmates and teachers knew as Nejdra Nance made quite the impression at Waltersville School in Bridgeport.

“The first day I was at Waltersville was the first day she was here,” principal Ann de Bernard told The Post yesterday.

“She came up to me and asked me if I would hold her hand and walk her to the corner. I said, ‘Come on, it’s just a short way,’ and she said, ‘Please just walk with me,’ and started to cry. She was a darling. She had a face you would never forget.”

De Bernard knew the girl, whose real name is Carlina White, from first through fourth grade and later as a summer camper. She described her as an outgoing and fun child.

“Nejdra was one of my helpers. She was the principal’s pet,” de Bernard said.

“The moment I heard her name on TV, I was shrieking,” de Bernard said.
