A worker at a deli called Carve Cafe was stabbed early Monday — after chasing down two thieves who tried to mug a customer at the Midtown site, cops said.
Police said a man and a woman walked into the eatery on 45th Street near Eighth Avenue at about 4:15 a.m. and tried to take a woman’s bag before the worker stepped in.
The brave worker fought off the duo, who fled down 45th Street, police said.
The employee ran after the thieves, but when he caught up to the woman, he was stabbed in the stomach, according to cops.
EMTs took the worker to Bellevue Hospital, where his condition was not known, cops said.
