Gambling was briefly halted at the Tropicana Casino and Resort in Atlantic City early yesterday when a fire damaged part of the building.
No injuries were reported in the blaze, which broke out on the sixth floor just before 4:30 a.m., but it forced officials to evacuate the casino floor for about 20 minutes.
An estimate on how much money the casino may have lost due to the gambling disruption was not available yesterday.
Atlantic City Fire Chief Dennis Brooks told The Press of Atlantic City that the fire started in an outdoor planter.
The blaze caused an estimated $30,000 to $50,000 in damage.
