A cat jumped onto the tracks of the No. 7 line in Times Square on Sunday morning, causing a brief shutdown of the line until it could be rescued and brought to safety, authorities said.
“They were telling people, ‘No service, no service’,” said straphanger Asmir Ali Misjatri, 32. “Then I hear because of a cat! Times Square? How does one cat stop New York? Ridiculous!”
The kitty leaped into the line of danger around 10:30 a.m. Transit workers halted trains on the line for about 10 minutes while an employee picked it up and got it out of harm’s way.
“Following an earlier incident at Times Sq-42 St, 7 service has resumed with residual delays,” the Metropolitan Transportation Agency tweeted.
