Catskills casino hit
A coalition of “racino” betting parlors at the state’s horse tracks yesterday urged Gov. Cuomo to block a tribal casino planned for the Catskills, claiming it will not only hurt their business but the upstate gaming parlor would also cost the state $400 million in betting revenues.
In a letter to Cuomo’s office, the track-based casinos protested the “midnight compact” that Cuomo’s predecessor, David Paterson, reached with the Wisconsin-based Stockbridge Munsee band of Mohicans in November. They want Cuomo to call for a halt to the federal review of the project.
