Prosecutors have dropped a double-murder case against two men who spent 19 years behind bars for the crime.

The state’s highest court, the Court of Appeals, overturned the convictions of Danny Colon and Anthony Ortiz in 2009, after Colon had unearthed evidence of misconduct by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office in their 1990 trial.

That misconduct included allowing a key prosecution witness to the 1989 drive-by shooting on the Lower East Side to lie on the stand.

The DA’s office told Justice Gregory Carro yesterday that it can no longer prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt.
