Officials at a trouble-plagued Manhattan charter school the city is seeking to close have appealed to the state education commissioner to save it.

In a petition that may end in a court battle, lawyers for Ross Global Academy said the city’s Department of Education failed to follow protocol in recommending that the school not have its charter renewed.

The state Board of Regents is scheduled to vote on the school’s fate early next week.

The petition says DOE officials blindsided the school with a negative review without giving administrators the chance to set the record straight.

“The fact that they were going for closure was never even discussed — in fact, everything was pointing to a renewal,” said lawyer Kevin Quinn.

He said the school was being judged on a low point last year, when it ranked at the bottom of public schools, despite a better record in the prior three years.

A DOE spokesman reiterated the city’s stance on holding all schools accountable.
