Chelsea bomber Ahmad Rahimi was assigned a new lawyer Tuesday because his
from his case while in a federal lockup.
Sabrina Shroff represented both Rahimi and Sajmir Alimehmeti, who are inmates at the Metropolitan Correction Center in Manhattan. Alimehmeti allegedly used Rahimi’s case materials, which included bomb-making instructions and copies of al Qaeda’s terror magazine, as jailhouse propaganda, it was revealed last month.
The sentencing for Rahimi — who was convicted of detonating a series of bombs in Manhattan and New Jersey in 2016 — has been moved from Jan. 18 to Feb. 13 to give his new attorney, Xavier Donaldson, the chance to catch up on the case.
A new lawyer will also be appointed for Alimehmeti, whose case goes to trial later this month.
