The man dubbed the “Chelsea slasher” has attacked at least two other women in the past few months, leaving one permanently disfigured and needing 150 stitches, prosecutors said Wednesday.
Kari Bazemore was arraigned in Manhattan Criminal Court Wednesday via video conference from Bellevue Hospital on charges of assault, attempted assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
In addition to the Jan. 6 slashing of Amanda Morris on her way to work at a Chelsea Whole Foods supermarket, Bazemore assaulted random women, Assistant District Attorney Kristen Baraiola told the court.
He was remanded pending the results of a psychiatric evaluation.
