Connecticut State Police are investigating the discovery of what may be child porn at a Roman Catholic church whose pastor abruptly resigned.

Officials would say only that a “criminal investigation” was in progress after computers were seized from St. Paul in Chains’ rectory in Waterford, WFSB-TV reported.

Norwich Bishop Michael Cote was said to be planning to release a letter to parishioners at Mass today announcing Father Dennis Carey’s resignation, effective immediately.

A diocese spokesman did not immediately respond to calls for comment.
