A hit-run driver struck and seriously injured a child on William Floyd Parkway in Suffolk County on Monday afternoon, police said.
The victim was with an adult when the crash occurred at 550 William Floyd Parkway around 3:45 p.m., authorities said.
Suffolk County Police said the driver fled but was apprehended minutes later.
The child was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital in serious condition, authorities said.
