Two women were shot in the head and their bodies were burned in a gruesome blaze in Chinatown today, authorities said.
The women, one in her 70s and one in her 50s, were killed in a first-floor apartment at 83 Henry St., a six-story building in the shadow of the Manhattan Bridge.
After the women was shot, the killer set the apartment ablaze in two spots, in the kitchen and in a bedroom, the Fire Department said.
Firefighters were called to the scene at 10:38 a.m., and the blaze was declared under control an hour later.
The two women were declared dead at the scene. Their identities were not released.
