Chris Christie gave an earth-shaking performance Monday as he hungrily dived for ground balls while playing third base in a charity softball game at Yankee Stadium.

The New Jersey governor shut down the other team while manning the hot corner like a traffic barrier on the George Washington Bridge — and even made a crucial catch in the seventh inning to help his squad rack up a 7-6 victory.

“Not many politicians would go out there on third base and put himself in the line of fire like that,” former Jets quarterback Boomer Esiason told NJ Online.

Esiason helped organize the event, called Bombers Boomer Broadway Softball Classic, which raised money for wounded soldiers and for the fight against cystic fibrosis.

Christie had much less luck at the plate, where he failed to get a hit and was pictured during one at bat taking an awkward hack that turned into a popout to the shortstop.

Despite this, his teammates even gave him something that might be second only to a Republican nomination — the game ball.

Christie, who wore number 55 because he is the Garden State’s 55th governor, said he was just hoping not to get hurt.

“We won, so it went just fine,” he said, according to NJ Online.
