New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie might be running for president of the United States, but he’d have a hard time getting re-elected in his own state.

Christie received the worst job-approval ratings of his career, in a Quinnipiac University poll released Monday.

Only 38 percent of New Jersey voters gave Christie a thumbs-up on his job performance, compared with 56 percent who said he was doing a lousy job.

In the same poll in January, Garden State voters were almost evenly divided — 46 percent approved of Christie’s performance as governor and 48 percent did not. The poll was conducted between April 9 and 14.
