New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has slimmed down after his belly-band surgery, but he’s not about to make a public splash in a swimsuit.

“We are not doing that on Fourth of July. There are some things I absolutely know at my core would be a bad thing. Me in a Speedo is one of them,” Christie quipped on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

Christie, a popular Republican considered a shoo-in for re-election this fall and a potential 2016 presidential contender, chuckled when an interviewer told him The Post’s headline writers would want to see him in a Speedo.

“They sure would,” Christie said.

The Post last month broke the story that Christie, who refuses to say how much he weighs, secretly underwent lap-band stomach surgery earlier this year.

On political matters, Christie said he would decide in 2015 whether to run for the presidency the following year.
