Sen. Charles Schumer yesterday called on the feds to ban reusable grocery bags — because some contain “five times the allowable limits for lead” and can wreak havoc on the environment and on public health.

“To add insult to injury, guess where these bags are made,” Schumer (D-NY) said. “China, [which has] no regard for American safety.”
