In a scene straight out of “The X-Files,” a swarm of bees descended upon Cipriani Wall Street yesterday, sticking to an entrance at the tony eatery.

At 11:45 a.m., police cordoned off the area outside the restaurant at 55 Wall St. as hundreds of bees clung to a metal and glass door and many others buzzed nearby.

“The bees have good taste,” said Chiro Chatterjee, one of the dozens of passers-by who stopped to watch or take pictures. Others, however, fled in fear of getting stung. Police called in a city-contracted beekeeper to humanely remove the insects with a suction device. It was unclear just why the bees had singled out the restaurant.

Cipriani shares the site with a luxury apartment complex whose residents had to leave through a back door to avoid the bees. No one was reported stung.
