Despite a state order that it cut more than 14,000 temporary staffers from the municipal rolls, the city actually added dozens of so-called provisional workers in the latest four-month filing period, records show.

Between March 1 and June 30, the de Blasio administration hired a net 36 provisional staffers — raising the total number of temp workers to 21,572.

Since a state law was passed in October 2014 giving the city an additional two years to reduce its nonpermanent workforce to about 8,700, the city shed just 1,384 over eight months, data show.

The prolonged use of temporary workers is seen by some as an end-around of civil-service rules.
