City beer-pong champs
New Yorkers hoping to relive their college days competed in a beer pong tournament last night, vying for a spot at a national tournament next month.
Sixteen teams of two participated at Still bar on Third Avenue at East 17th Street. In the game, players toss pingpong balls into cups — usually filled with beer, but last night with water — on their opponents’ side of the table. When a team sinks a shot in every cup, it wins.
Last night’s winners, Mike Jones and Ryan Smith, both 22 and from Garden City, LI, will head to national tournament with the chance to win $50,000.
