A City Council policy analyst claims he was canned Friday because he blew the whistle when the NYPD commissioner used bogus numbers in a presentation.
“I said screw it, something needs to be done, and contacted my journalist friends and some council members and said [Commissioner Bill] Bratton had purposely misled the council,” said Artyom Matusov, 30.
Matusov said Bratton presented deceiving data that implied the percentage of arrests in which force was used had dropped in recent years.
But the NYPD said Matusov had “grossly misinterpreted the statistics he used to determine that Police Commissioner Bratton has been caught in a lie before the City Council.” A council spokesman declined to comment.
