Missing something? If you lost it in a yellow taxi, the city has a new Web application that will help.

Go to nyc.gov/311, and look for the link that says “Yellow Taxi Lost and Found Information.”

From there, you’ll find another link leading to a box in which you can type the four-digit medallion number of the cab.

You’ll see the medallion number on the hood of the taxi, on its license plate, or on your receipt.

Typing the medallion number in the box will get you the address, phone number and Web page of the garage where the taxi is based. Drivers are supposed to bring lost items to their garages.
