The free ride’s over for low-income buildings that ducked $100 million in property taxes and water charges for decades.
A city crackdown is under way — including one at a 10-building, 302-unit complex run by the Bronx Heights Neighborhood Community Corp. It owes $3.7 million and faces foreclosure.
The building at 99 Featherbed Lane has already been auctioned, with the city managing to recover its $414,000 mortgage.
Doug Apple, first deputy commissioner of the Department of Housing Preservation and Development, said no tenant would be evicted.
