Unintentional drug-overdose deaths in New York City fell dramatically in 2008, to their lowest levels since 1999, according to a City Health Department report released yesterday.
Overdose deaths fell from 874 in 2006 to 666 in 2008.
Drug overdose still remains the third-leading cause of premature death among New Yorkers ages 25 to 34.
