Taxi riders will soon get their chance to sound off on a proposed fare hike.

City officials announced today they are holding a public hearing on taxi fares later this month, the first step in raising prices.

The public hearing will be held on May 31 at 33 Beaver Street in Manhattan at 11 a.m.

The industry has been petitioning the Taxi & Limousine Commission to increase fares for years, citing higher gas prices and the new outer-borough livery fleet among other reasons.

“The fare hasn’t changed since 2006, so it is reasonable for taxi drivers and fleet owners to put this on the table,” said TLC boss David Yassky.

“We will consider their petitions over the next couple of months.”

The TLC Board of Commissioners will decide whether to hike fares after several public hearings.
