Starting today, Citi Bikes are ready to roll for all.
The general public can now use the city’s new bike-share system — a week after the program’s soft launch for select members.
Riders gear up by visiting any of the 330 bike stations and using a credit or debit card to purchase a 24-hour or seven-day pass.
A 24-hour pass is $9.95 and a seven-day pass is $25.
Users then enter a five-digit code — found on their receipts — into a keypad to release a bike.
The ride starts when the two-wheeler is unlocked and ends when it’s returned to any Citi Bike rack.
But new cyclists should keep a sharp eye on the clock. Day trippers can take as many 30-minute rides as they like, but jaunts that run longer will incur overtime fees that start at $4 after 30 minutes.
Annual bike-share members have 45 minutes to find a dock.
