Thousands of Yankees fans will be cheering for their team at a pep rally in Times Square before Game 1 of the World Series.

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is hosting the gathering at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the crossroads of the world. He will be joined by Michael Kay of the Yankees’ YES network.

The city is encouraging Yankees fans to wear Yankees gear to work and school to show support throughout the city.

The Yankees face the Philadelphia Phillies tomorrow night at 8 p.m.

The rally will be on Broadway between 44th and 45th streets but attendees will only be permitted to enter aat 42nd Street and Broadway. Coolers, large backpacks and bags will not be permitted.
