The city and federal government agreed Monday to revise the Big Apple’s flood maps a year after Mayor de Blasio appealed risk calculations that would have jacked up thousands of New Yorkers’ insurance bills.

Those FEMA calculations put 35,000 homes and buildings into the highest risk areas — a designation accompanied by a requirement that homeowners with mortgages purchase flood insurance. Revised maps will provide New Yorkers with more current data, according to City Hall.

It’s unclear how many structures will be removed from the highest risk areas, according to de Blasio spokesman Raul Contreras, who said that determination has “not yet” been made.
