The city is plowing an additional $16.9 million into dealing with the homeless, the de Blasio administration announced late Monday.

The money will fund job training and other services for single adults and families at 39 shelters citywide.

“The goal is to provide clients in the shelter system the opportunity to acquire the skills that will allow them to leave shelters permanently,” said Lorraine Stephens, deputy commissioner of homeless services.

The funding boost comes amid a 90-day review of the city’s services to the homeless and to welfare recipients by Human Resources Commissioner Steve Banks.
