The city is honoring the 2,983 people who died in the 9/11 attacks in a downtown ceremony Monday morning.

The somber memorial will begin at 7 a.m. and will pause six times — twice to mark when the planes hit each of the Twin Towers, twice for when each tower collapsed and two more times to mark the Pentagon and Flight 93 attacks.

The Tribute in Light will begin at sunset and end Tuesday at dawn.
