Eric Adams’ significant first-round mayoral race lead will hold as more ballots are counted, a major city union that backed the front-runner said Wednesday.

“It is clear New Yorkers across the five boroughs agree: Eric Adams is the number one choice for working people,” Henry Garrido, executive director of District Council 37, the Big Apple’s largest municipal workers union, said in a statement Wednesday morning.

“There are more votes to be counted, but the momentum is on our side.” 

The post-election celebration by the union, which represents 200,000 workers, comes as the former NYPD captain and current Brooklyn borough president stands roughly 10 points ahead of former de Blasio administration lawyer Maya Wiley and 12 points over former Sanitation Commissioner Kathryn Garcia.

But the final election results won’t be known for a couple weeks, because of the ranked-choice voting system and the many absentee ballots that have not yet been counted.

In the Democratic mayoral primary, Adams picked up endorsements from several major unions, including the powerful Hotel Trades Council, transit workers union and 32BJ, which represents building service workers.
