The surge in city crime continued as murders spiked 22.5 percent for the year and shootings nearly doubled for the week compared to last year, latest NYPD figures show.

Through Sunday, there were 125 homicides compared with 102 in the same period last year.

For just last week, shooting incidents rose 94.1 percent over the same period last year from 17 to 33, the statistics show. Shooting victims doubled from 24 to 48 for the week.
