The city is dispatching an emergency-response-training team outside the United States for the first time — to help with the continuing crisis in earthquake-ravaged Haiti.

The 12-member squad, including four Haitian-Creole speaking firefighters, leaves Monday on a two-week mission to train up to 400 people in fire safety, first aid, triage, disaster psychology and related issues.
