The fraud-ridden automated payroll system, which has embarrassed Mayor Bloomberg for years, may be on the road to extinction.

Last week, the city won a nearly $500 million reimbursement from CityTime’s chief architect, defense contractor Science Applications International Corp.

Today, City Hall plans to call for proposals for alternative pay-and-overtime systems.
