New York Archbishop Timothy Dolan won’t be getting a raise when he becomes a cardinal next month — but he will be gaining a few other perks:

* The biggest and best — in terms of power — is that he becomes a member of the College of Cardinals, which allows him to help pick the next pope should the current one die during his tenure.

* Brand-new vestments, which are famously “all red, symbolizing your willingness to shed your blood for the faith,” said his spokesman, Joseph Zwilling.

* A cardinal’s classic red skullcap, or biretta.

* A special ring to reflect his new status.

* While his salary stays the same — $23,000 a year, similar to a pastor’s — he does earn a new greeting from people: He now becomes “Your eminence” instead of the bishop’s honorific “Your excellency.”
