Cloud over SUNY big
ALBANY — The State University official fighting an ethics charge runs a Connecticut-based consulting firm as part of his part-time roles in addition to his full-time SUNY job, officials said.
SUNY is conducting an audit of Senior Vice Chancellor John O’Connor’s private business dealings with the American Ditchley Foundation.
A spokesman for the international think tank that conducted symposiums on community colleges says O’Connor and his wife run a consulting business called the Ballintober Group based in Connecticut.
The spokesman told The Associated Press the American Ditchley Foundation paid the Ballintober group $65,000 for services and paid O’Connor $85,000 as its executive director.
The SUNY board is reviewing O’Connor’s outside business interests.
The state ethics board has accused O’Connor of continuing a no-show job for the daughter of a once-prominent politician.
