A harrowing number of New Jersey Turnpike token booth attendants have chucked change at drivers, cursed at them and even tried to illegally strip-search them, according to documents released by the Turnpike Authority.

Complaint forms, posted on thesmokinggun.com, show toll collectors snapping at the slightest provocation.

When one motorist included five pennies in their toll, the collector said ” ‘I don’t’ know what’s wrong with you f – – -ing people,’ ” said one complaint. “Collector threw the pennies at patron and hit patron in the face.”

Joe Orlando, a Turnpike Authority spokesman, said: “We have no problem going after people like this.”
