Republicans won’t give up hope that Police Commissioner Ray Kelly can be convinced to run for mayor.

At the New York State Republican Party’s fund-raising dinner Thursday, GOP activists salivated over a potential Kelly candidacy.

“Ray Kelly is the right man at the right time,” said Rep. Bob Turner (R-Queens). Kelly was the talk of the dinner, even though he wasn’t even there.
