ALBANY — State judges will get pay raises next year if the Legislature allows recommendations passed on Monday to stand.

The Commission on Judicial and Legislative Compensation voted to give state Supreme Court justices about $19,000 more than their current pay of $174,000 per year.

The judges will earn about $207,000 by 2018 if the recommendations take effect.

The pay hikes are guaranteed unless state lawmakers move to block them.

The same commission is eyeing pay hikes for state legislators, who earn base salaries of $79,500.
