Community stalwarts received special recognition recently from the 78th Precinct Community Council. Honorees at the group’s Nov. 24 meeting included Frank Violante and Jack Pytluk of Ocean 8 Sports Bar and Grill on Flatbush Avenue, La Villa Restaurant on Fifth Avenue, and Matthew Pintchik, owner of Pintchik’s Hardware on Bergen Street. The businesses and individuals dedicate their time and resources to keep the all-volunteer council strong, according to Pauline Blake, the group’s president. “We’ve had so many great community partners,” said Blake. “Thank you for being there.” Pintchik said he was honored to be recognized, but said the real acclaim should be directed towards “the men and women of the 78th Precinct.”
