Frigid temperatures snapped several rails along the Long Island Rail Road, jamming up the morning commute Friday, MTA officials said.
Crews were repairing the breaks as commuters were stranded in the single-digit temperatures.
The Port Jefferson and Ronkonkoma branches were suspended in both directions between Hicksville and Mineola early Friday, but service was later restored with residual delays.
Broken rails were reported at the Westbury, Great Neck, Bay Shore, Babylon and Far Rockaway stations, among others, according to LIRR officials.
Commuters should expect 20- to 30-minute delays system-wide and hourly service at the Port Washington Branch, authorities said.
