WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. — A New York prosecutor has raised to $20 million the amount allegedly stolen from a wealthy musician and oil-family heir.

Pianist and composer Roger Davidson allegedly was bilked over six years by being persuaded there were security threats to him and his family.

The Westchester district attorney’s office says 37-year-old Vickram Bedi of Chappaqua has been indicted on a charge of grand larceny. He was arraigned Tuesday, pleaded not guilty and was held on $5 million bail.

When Bedi and a co-defendant were arrested last year, officials said they had stolen at least $6 million from Davidson. The co-defendant has pleaded guilty.

Davidson is descended from the founders of Schlumberger Ltd., the oil services company.

Defense attorney Anthony Giordano said there were contracts for every dollar Davidson transferred to Bedi.
