The president of a concrete-testing company tried to kill himself after he was convicted of faking results at sites including the new Yankee Stadium and Ground Zero, it was learned yesterday.

V. Reddy Kancharla slit his wrists and took several sleeping pills last Friday, two days after learning that he and his company, Testwell Laboratories Inc., had been found guilty of racketeering, according to court papers.

Kancharla and Vice President Vincent Barone were convicted of additional charges on Wednesday in Manhattan Supreme Court, but Kancharla was not in court because of his injuries.

They face up to 25 years behind bars for doctoring results at almost 120 locations.

Kancharla’s lawyer said his client has recovered and will appeal.
