A disabled upstate man who requested a parking spot closer to his apartment claims in a Manhattan lawsuit that his condo complex asked him to pay to renumber the spaces instead of approving a simple switch.

John Bliss, of Monroe, Orange County, says he asked Cromwell Condominiums to swap his allotted parking space with one closer to his front door because spinal stenosis, osteoarthritis and other conditions make it tough for him to walk.

There are four spots close to Bliss’ apartment, but the complex denied the request, he claims in Manhattan federal court papers filed against the complex and management company Elite Property Services.

The only way he could change spaces was to get another owner to agree to trade, and if they did, Bliss would have to pay to renumber them, he alleges.

Elite didn’t respond to messages.
