Congress will not receive a Justice Department summary of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s findings on Saturday after all, ramping up tensions in the nation’s capital.
Only a few top aides huddled with Attorney General William Barr and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein Saturday, trying to distill the report into a document that can be made public without violating laws on grand jury disclosures, according to multiple media reports.
President Trump has still not been briefed about the contents of the report, the White House press office said Saturday. He remained uncharacteristically quiet on Twitter as the day wore on.
The summary is expected to be delivered to Congress on Sunday, officials said.
