DANIELSON, Conn. — Connecticut police say a Putnam man was arrested twice in the same night for driving while intoxicated.

Police said 29-year-old James Maguire Jr. was arrested around 4:30 a.m. today after failing a field sobriety test. Police say they pulled him over on Interstate 395 for driving without his taillights illuminated.

State police said they later learned that Maguire had been arrested just hours before by Putnam police for driving intoxicated. Putnam police had released Maguire a short time later, but revoked his driving privileges in Connecticut.

Maguire was charged with his second DWI and operating while revoked. He was held on a $1,000 bond and will appear in Danielson Superior Court on April 28. It was unclear if he had hired an attorney.
